Educational Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience.

Job Context
This position focuses on ensuring safe and affordable drinking water for vulnerable FDMN communities in Cox’s Bazar. The officer will:
- Monitor and test water quality (chemical, physical, bacteriological) at sources, storage, and distribution points
- Supervise emergency water treatment and chlorination activities
- Support hygiene promotion teams in community awareness
- Maintain laboratory compliance with SPHERE, WHO, and organizational standards
- Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and field teams
- Prepare reports, manage stocks, and conduct regular capacity-building activities
- Travel frequently to remote project areas to manage field operations
Key Responsibilities
Water Quality Monitoring – 40%
- Conduct regular testing at water sources, storage systems, and distribution points
- Supervise free residual chlorine (FRC) testing and emergency treatment activities
- Maintain lab standards and ensure reagent/tool availability
- Document test results, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions
- Train staff on laboratory and quality assurance practices
Compliance & Information Sharing – 20%
- Ensure compliance with SPHERE and WASH sector guidelines
- Provide technical guidance during JART/AWD responses
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure stock availability
- Conduct water quality analysis across assigned areas
Networking & Coordination – 15%
- Represent the organization in technical working groups and WASH sector forums
- Coordinate with DPHE, CiCs, CMOs, UN agencies, and NGOs
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training
Reporting & Documentation – 15%
- Submit timely monthly water quality reports to relevant stakeholders
- Report contamination and AWD cases promptly
- Prepare weekly and monthly WQT activity plans
- Support procurement processes and maintain records
Other Duties – 10%
- Participate in sectoral meetings, seasonal programs, and community engagement initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement of water quality practices
